Fort Worth Carrier Corporation is the dedicated carrier for a major national retailer. We are currently hiring qualified TEAM TRUCK DRIVERS for regional and national trips based out of our Mabelvale, AR terminal.

Job Summary:  Drivers will safely and efficiently deliver finished goods and products to customers in a timely and professional manner.  Trips may originate from their home terminal or foreign terminals, and may include picking up freight from outside vendor partners.  Trips will vary in length depending on the current workload, overnight trips may be required.

Job Role:  Drivers provide professional service and represent Fort Worth Carrier Corporation in the best possible public image.  Drivers move freight between terminals safely, efficiently, and effectively.  Driver’s role includes transportation, safety, communication, training, other periodic duties and reporting incidents timely.  Transporting freight requires drivers to be proficient in the operation of a tractor trailer and use many commercial vehicle combinations while being able to follow verbal and written instructions.  All drivers are expected to check in daily with the dispatch office to determine load availability and runs, which are subject to change based on the rapidly changing demands of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Transportation
    • Daily delivery of trailers to retail stores and other distribution centers
    • Daily delivery of trailers to vendors for merchandise pick-ups
    • Daily pick up of return trailers located at stores
    • Hook up/ Drop trailers at locations as dispatched
    • Move and hook converter dollies
  • Safety
    • Securing trailers with king pin boot lock, unlocking king pin boot and removing at required locations
    • Conduct Safety Inspections of tractors, dollies, and trailers visually checking for functional lights, tire pressure checks, airline pressure checks, check trailer seals and locks with slight pull to ensure they are locked
  • Communication
    • Communicate safety issues immediately to management
    • Communicate damage and breakdowns to management including use of red tags
  • Training
    • Maintains Electronic Logging Device and remains current on Hours of Service
    • Completes Quarterly Safety Training Modules
  • Other Periodic Duties
    • Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include fueling, checking or adding oil, water, air, and other fluids; reports maintenance deficiencies and unsafe conditions to the Shop Manager
    • Driving over the road for extended periods of time (Primarily Team Drivers)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
  • Must have knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections, and maintenance
  • Experience pulling double trailers with dollies
  • Ability to plan route and navigate traffic in all geographic areas
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations with the mental ability to handle receipts, read road signs, maintain log books, etc.
  • Ability to navigate obstacles to dock trailers as required
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and follow instructions
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain schedule per instructions
  • Ability to work any day/evening/night as required, weekends included

Job Requirements:  Requires a valid Class A CDL License with Doubles/Triples Endorsement and background check.  Must be able to pass DOT certification and drug/alcohol screen.  Stable work history with satisfactory MVR, with no more than 3 moving violations in last 3 years.  Established teams required (no solo drivers without partners).  A minimum of 2 years of experience driving a tractor with doubles, both city and highway.  Night driving vision is required.  Reliable transportation and functional communications devices (IE telephone, mobile phone, etc.) are required of each driver.  Applicants must meet minimum age requirements as governed by the DOT.
